Seeking nominations for the Swan Region’s 2025 Soil Health Champion

Perth NRM is seeking the Swan region’s next Soil Health Champion!

The Soil Health Champion could be anyone from a horticulture grower to a livestock farmer, a viticulturist to a broad acre cropper, as long as they are passionate about building healthy soil!

Do you know someone who has been trialing soil amendments, incorporating perennials into their system,  testing their soil, increasing soil biology, or something else entirely? We want to hear about it!

Past Soil Health Champions include farmers like Rob Hetherington,  who uses mixed species cropping to improve fungi levels and feed microbes, creating fertile soil exemplified by the presence of earthworms across the entire farm, and Belinda Taylor, who uses regenerative practices to improve the soil microbiome and reduce the use of and reliance on chemical inputs, while using her property to educate small landholders on soil health, grazing and pasture management.

The nominee will be given the opportunity to showcase their work in a short film captured by a professional videographer. This video will be screened during the Talkin’ Soil Health Conference in York next March, where the Soil Health Champion will be recognised by their peers and have the chance to connect with other like-minded growers.

If you or someone you know is interested, use the following link to fill out the questionnaire, or email Perth NRM SAF at tibby.tuckett@perthnrm.com for more information.
