Soil Restoration Farming Workshop
This workshop blends soil health fundamentals with practical, real-world guidance on how to start and what to do next. Kevin will cover the key characteristics of healthy and unhealthy soils, the biological and physical processes that drive fertile, functional soils, how plants and microbes work together to build soil health, and practical ways to use plant diversity and management to strengthen soil systems.

Soil health - what is it and how do we get there?
This full-day workshop will give you practical insights into what healthy soil really is, how to assess this on your own property, and practical, tested strategies to building healthy soils. You'll learn to identify causes vs symptoms of soil health and how to analyse and measure soil health out in the field, plus receive recommendations for laboratory analysis. You'll also improve your understanding of the biological and physical processes driving fertile, functional soils, fertiliser management strategies, livestock incorporation, and cover cropping.

Resilient Farming Learning Groups
Led by Kevin Elmy, farmers will focus on better understanding soil health principles, and the importance of plant group diversity for regenerative agriculture. This working group will mostly focus on learning about unlocking profit through soil biology and plant diversity and those starting out to experiment with regenerative agriculture practices on farm. The session will include an exploration of individual farm businesses’ challenges, plus assistance with identifying practical solutions, setting clear goals, and developing a plan to adapt their system accordingly.
Participants will receive a follow-up phone call or farm visit from Kevin, another gathering with their learning group to review outcomes, and on-going peer support.

Wheatbelt NRM is proud to launch the industry report Wheatbelt land-use paradigms - navigating new industries in the low carbon and natural capital era.
Alongside this launch will be an amazing selection of international, national and local experts including Kevin Elmy (Cover Crops Canada, author, soil regen specialist) and Mark Morrison (Charles Sturt University, Soil CRC), as well as the hands-on opportunity to use some of the tools required for carbon and biodiversity projects throughout the day.
