DNA testing technology is no longer just being used for analysis of humans i.e. forensic crime scenes or insights into traits and ancestral origins. Environmental DNA (eDNA) testing is now commercially available.
Follow this film on the eDNA Landcare Australia Biodiversity in Action project currently being managed by RegenWA across three Western Australian farms.
Filmed by Simple Ben Stories this film describes the project from the fieldwork to collect samples, the laboratory results, what data analysis revealed, other local research using this technology, how individuals or groups can deploy eDNA and the ‘next steps’ for the project. A key objective of the project is to bring emerging science onto farms and translate it into practical, producer-relevant decision-making tools.
