Collective Impact Workshop 4

Organise for Impact

Twenty-two attendees participated in the fourth collective impact workshop of the Restoration Impact Framework project on Tuesday 10th September at The Hub, Bentley Technology Park. Facilitated by Impact Seed and Perth NRM the workshop began with short updates from

  • Bonnie Jupp Project Manager RegenWA presenting an on-farm events update
  • Craig Pensini Project Manager Collective Impact highlighting the Collective Impact roadshows that occurred during late July and early August
  • Ronnie Duncan from In Better Company giving a business investment case update
  • Heidi Mippy from ARC Training Centre for Healing Country sharing her experiences on the Ecosystem Leadership Program

The draft Vision and Purpose were further refined following polling after workshop #3. Steph Shorter from Impact Seed challenged the participants to consider the feedback and develop a finalised statement. It was agreed that our Vision and Purpose would be:

Vision: A healthy, resilient landscape enabling productive land use and stewardship.

Purpose: As custodians, we collectively drive awareness and action that builds natural capital that is valued by all.

Finalising the Principles of Practice for the RIF’s Charter was seen as a key milestone for the RIF project. Feedback following workshop #3 was canvassed and after robust discussion a final version agreed to. The Charter will be available everyone who has been involved with the project for their organisation’s acceptance and/or acknowledgement.

Steph Shorter from Impact Seed then guided the workshop through a series of talks and group activities including

  • Presenting and discussing the draft Strategic Approach developed following workshop #3. Groups deliberated about what needed to be added, removed or changed
  • An introduction the different Collective Impact governance structures (backbone organisations, steering committee, and working groups) that could be adopted in future stages and the group discussed the advantages and disadvantages of the different models
  • Reflections on the Collective Impact and Theory of Change approaches, what worked well and what needed further discussion or was left unsaid.
