Nature Based Solutions Partnership

RegenWA Ltd has partnered with Alinta Energy’s Nature Based Solutions team to provide farmers options to get involved in the carbon market, address on-farm environmental issues and adoption of evidence based regenerative agricultural practices.

Alinta Energy has committed to deliver to their customers solar PV and battery storage systems to support them in their cost reduction and de-carbonisation targets. The New Markets Unit, led by Marc Barrington aims to develop this “behind the meter solutions” for Alinta Energy customers while including Australian Carbon Credits Units (ACCUs) to offset hard to abate emission from Nature-Based Solutions projects.

Alinta Energy’s Nature Based Solutions team delivers high-integral Australia Carbon Credits Units by working with farmers and land managers to design and implement environmental plantings and soil carbon projects (site specific) with a goal to sequester carbon. Alinta Energy is also committed to supporting evidence based regenerative farming options. Greenig Australia will be conducting the revegetation activities, and farmers will work directly with Alinta Energy.

With RegenWA ‘s experience in environmental farm auditing , we will be providing Alinta Energy with advice on farm activities and third-party trusted field auditing and ACCU claim validation and monitoring. RegenWA won’t be involved in negotiation with farmers  nor will we receive finder’s fees etc. RegenWA will not receive any direct payment through the generation of ACCUs.

Why would a farmer consider partnering with Alinta Energy?

  • creating a diversified additional revenue source (ACCUs sharing and or lease arrangements);
  • Improve ecosystem health (regenerate degraded lands and unlock new productive opportunities); and
  • Farm benefits (improved soils, water retention, drought resilience and potential productivity improvements).

From RegenWA’s perspective, the potential co-benefits involved with regenerating your degraded areas fits within our core goal of landscape scale nature repair. These co-benefits includes –

  • Environmental benefits (Improved air, water, soils quality and adoption of evidenced based land management practices);
  • Social and Cultural benefits (Increased social capital, knowledge and skills building and more resilient income through productivity); and
  • Economic benefits (potential increased productivity, risk management and potential diversified income for the landowner).

Like any other project involving agreements or contracts we recommend that anyone considering involvement in opportunities like this that you do your own research and seek appropriate and qualified advice before committing yourselves.
