eDNA for Biodiversity Action (Bindoon)

Farmers, land managers, agronomists, consultants and anyone curious about the on-farm application of environmental DNA (eDNA) and integrating eDNA outcomes into a farm / landscape management plan are invited to join us for a practical and informative workshop at at Joc Dwyer’s farm in Bindoon.

This workshop will: 

  • Explain the background to our eDNA Landcare Aust project
  • Outline how eDNA sampling was undertaken at the local farms participating in the project
  • Present summarised eDNA results from these farms and explore what they mean
  • Explain how eDNA sampling works and why it matters
  • Provide tips, tricks and limitations of eDNA sampling, plus in-field use of demonstration sampling equipment
  • Test a draft grower management / habitat strategy for real-world settings

 

You'll hear from:

  • Dr Adam Canning, James Cook University Senior Research Officer
  • Curtin University, Faculty of Science and Engineering eDNA Frontiers
  • Craig Pensini, RegenWA project coordinator

 

When: Tuesday 5th May 2026, 9:30am – 3:30pm

Where: Joc Dwyer’s property 71 Toy Road Bindoon (follow the RegenWA events signs)

Cost: FREE. Please be sure to register for catering and insurance purposes.

Lunch and Afternoon tea provided

 

What you need to bring:

  • Hat, water bottle, keep-cup, notebook
  • Sturdy shoes for the farm site visit
  • Questions and curiosity!
